  1. Wigsmart.co.uk no phone number and 17 emails later…wig delivered but was wrong colour than the colour ordered. Style was not the style ordered. They said it was what we ordered, but was not. They offered compensation of £20 then £35 and advised us to take it to hair dresser and get it dyed and re styled. I have reported them to my credit card to try get money refunded. Conned thinking was a UK company but was Chinese scam site

    • My name is Christina Britton and I am dealing with this site now! I ordered 2 wigs. They stated 5-7 day to make and 1-3 days delivery. It has been 10 days and the site says my wig is in procurement and production phase still. I also Sussex that this company is NOT in the UK as they claim on their FAQs page

    • I am currently trying to get a refund from Wigsmart.co.uk. Like Ronnie Williams, they have sent me completely the wrong colour and the wrong style. I will never order anything like this on the internet again. They have asked me to take photos of the wig, which is strange. I hope I get offered some compensation like Ronnie has. I will ask for a cheque. I wouldn’t want to give them my card details. Though mind you cheque could be fradulant.

If you’ve paid by Debit Card, write to the Wigsmart.co.uk Customer Support, they will offer a refund of up to £20 or alternatively ask you to send the wig to China (which they probably will deny receiving). Either way, it’s a scam and all of us on this forum have all been scammed … I relegated to losing £27 and will keep away from buying online unless it’s from a reputable company and go to the local wig maker in the nearest town hence forth.

    • Unfortunately I too have fallen prey to this Wigsmart scam. I have learned my lesson well; in future I will thoroughly research any web site I’ve never previously used before buying from them. Like everyone else, I assumed because of the .co.uk domain that this was a UK company, particularly as they claim to have “the largest selection of wigs and hairpieces in the UK” on their site.

I ordered a Vogue style capless wig in colour #22, platinum blonde, and paid £58.00 plus £7.00 postage and packing. After reading the appalling reviews I have found all over the internet, I wondered what on earth I was going to receive and hoped that I would be the exception and that my wig would be OK.

When I received it, I was horrified to see it was nothing like the style in the photo of what I’d ordered and, instead of being a lovely platinum silver colour, it was a dreadful ginger shade. I looked like Anne Robinson on a bad hair day! No way would I have paid a tenner for it, never mind the £65.00 it had cost me in total.

I contacted Wigsmart “customer services” and complained that they’d sent me the wrong order, and I wanted a replacement in the correct style and colour as well as my return postage refunding. There followed a series of completely ridiculous and nonsensical emails. I have reproduced the email trail below (with my email address removed for obvious reasons) – as you can see paragraphs of Wigsmart’s replies were obviously copied and pasted from previous emails. Here’s the email conversation that took place before I decided I was getting nowhere and contacted PayPal.

      Hello,

I received my wig today, but you have sent me completely the wrong colour. I ordered shade 22 which is a silver platinum but I received colour 28, which is a ginger colour! This is completely unsuitable.

Please send me a returns label so I can return the incorrect order to you and swap it for the correct order.

I have read many, many negative reviews of your company and if I do not receive the correct order I will open a dispute with PayPal in order to get my money back.

      Regards,

Attached is a copy of my order, which clearly shows I ordered the Vogue wig in shade 22.

Your web site (screen shot attached) shows shade 22 to be a platinum blonde.

The photographs of the wig you sent me show that:

      a) The wig is ginger, it is not platinum blonde!
      b) The wig is a lot shorter than the length shown for the Vogue wig on your web site.

All in all, the wig I received is not as described. Please send me a postage-paid returns label; I am not prepared to pay return postage for what was YOUR mistake.

Please sort this out as soon as possible.

      Thank you,
      Debbie King

      Dear Debbie King,

Thanks so much for your email and sorry for the trouble. If you really do not like the wig, we are willing to exchange it for you, could you please kindly accept it? For the new wig, we will ask the factory to produce it longer for you. You can also send us a piece of hair for our factory to match the colour for you. This would be much better. If you have any requirements, please tell us.

We have spent so much on your order and have paid the high material fee of the wigs to the factory which cannot be returned to us. We just want to lose less and do not want to lose a valuable customer like you. Could you please kindly take our offer into consideration?

We are willing to do our best to make you satisfied and lose less on this order. Any questions, please contact us and we will help you!

Look forward to hearing from you.

      Dear Wigsmart customer service,

First of all, I did not receive what I ordered. I have sent you the photos showing what I received, compared to the photos on your web site that show that the colour and style of the wig were not as advertised. You are falsely advertising your products.

Secondly, I do not wish to accept the order because it is unsuitable; therefore I ask again – please send me a postage-paid returns label to return this item, as it is no good to me.

Thirdly, why do you want me to send a hair sample to match the colour? On your web site you show the wig being available in colour #22, so send me colour #22 – I should not have to cut a sample off my hair.

I repeat – I want a refund of the full cost including postage as I have not received what I ordered. I also want a returns label (postage-paid) to return the wig to you.

If I do not receive a satisfactory response, I will instigate a dispute with PayPal. I will also give you an honest review of your poor service, poor products and deliberate misleading web site to add to the many other appalling reviews of your web site.

      Thank you,
      Debbie King

Thanks so much for your email. The wig is indeed produced with the colour you chose, we sincerely hope for your understanding. A piece of hair sample would be perfect for our factory to produce the new wig with the colour you sent, we sincerely hope for your understanding. And a small piece of hair is ok.

For the new wig, we will ask the factory to produce it more carefully. Is that ok?

We will ask our manager and then give you a return address.

      Hello,

OK, your email makes little sense. I ordered the wig in Shade 22, as shown on your web site.

Why do you show the colours available, then send the wrong colour? The photos I sent you clearly showed that the colour I received is not what I ordered.

I am unable to send a sample of hair because my own hair is not the same colour as the colour I wanted the wig to be. In any case, in order to send you a hair sample I need to have an address to send the sample to, and you have not provided me with one.

I have already spent £65.00 so I am NOT prepared to spend any more money. I will accept a new wig in the correct style and the correct colour, but I am not prepared to spend any money returning the wrong order to you. This is YOUR mistake, not mine, so YOU need to bear the return postage costs.

By all means send me a new wig in the correct style and colour, but I repeat I will not be paying out any more money.

      Thank you,
      Debbie King

Ok, here is the return address:

Room C-606, 3rd Building, Fengle Shiji Gongyu, No. 499, Changjiang West Road, Shushan District, Hefei City, Anhui Province, China
      T: 0551-65136733

Our factory is based in China and the wig need to be returned to the factory. Hope for your understanding. Please write down your name and your order number on a piece of paper and post it together with the wig, then send it back via Royal Mail International Signed and give us the tracking number.

You can send the item back in a padded Jiffy bag, not with the box we sent to you. It will reduce the weight and the postage will be much cheaper, just around £10. We will inform you as soon as we receive the wig from you.

Let me make this quite clear. You sent me the wrong item. The wig I received was not as described on your web site; this was made quite clear in the photos I sent you. You are deliberately misleading your customers and using false advertising, which is not good business practice.

When I have already paid £65.00 in good faith, why should I incur another £10.00 in postage for YOUR mistake. I should not have to be out of pocket through a mistake that you made. A fair and decent company would acknowledge this and would pay the return postage.

You are clearly not prepared to play fair with me and, as a result, I am going to send copies of the order, the photos and this email conversation to PayPal and instigate a dispute.

How many times do they have to say “For your order, the wig was indeed produced with the colour you chose, we sincerely hope for your understanding.” ? Also, it was farcical that they asked me to send a sample of my hair?!

I have been doing internet shopping for 20+ years and have never had any issues; in the event where I’ve received a wrong order or a faulty item, the company has always promptly refunded me and repaid the postage costs incurred.

Wigsmart are a disgusting company who are clearly setting out to mislead and defraud their customers. I have now opened a dispute with PayPal (who, incidentally, did tell me to return the item at my own cost which I’ve done; I would rather receive some of my money back than none at all).

PLEASE do not ever use this company.

Absolutely disgusted by their actions and caused a lot of unecessary additional stress for my terminally ill mother in trying to get £238 refunded via PayPal, at our expense for return. Was not letting them away with it though. PayPal were not helpful either though and should ban them! Although I will be banning my mother from even using PayPal. Also I recommend reporting these websites as often as you are able to security software people, like the big anti-virus companies, or the like. Don’t let these total assholes get away with this, especially without a fight. If they’re ripping you off, they deserve to be shut down, inspected, or at the very least blacklisted by all the major security software. These people wont know about it unless you tell them! Make them do more than give you your money back. Share the information everywhere you possibly can. This is not just wigs, either. Chinese sellers are ruining Amazon for almost every kind of product you can imagine, and there’s no recourse. You can’t even see where items are being shipped to you from. Amazon even supports this knock-off bullsh*t by offering prime shipping (meaning storing these products at their own warehouses), which isn’t ok, but at least then you have recourse (if you’re a prime subscriber. Everyone else is likely not as safe buying that stuff) I have bought about 25 wigs on Amazon. About 8 of them have been horrid quality & only one was refunded after I threatened to give them bad seller & item reviews for it. They refunded me and I did anyway, because it was obvious there was no quality control on their end. At first they only were going to give me half. I took pictures & sent them, and told them what I’d do, and they said they’d make “a special exception”.

The worst part about buying crap from China (especially when you have no prior knowledge about it) is that
    A. The shipping is EXTREMELY costly, and if it’s free, you better believe it’s factored into the original price of the item
    B. They claim you can get a refund if you return said items, but they give you about 14 days to return the item. Have you ever tried to send something to China? Especially anything bigger than a pack of cigarettes? Not only is it not going to get there in time, but it’s going to cost like half or more of your original purchase to ship it back, and there’s absolutely no guarantee you’ll actually get that refund. In fact I can bet you most likely wont see a dime. They’ll sell the item again, too.
    C. They lie to customs on your package, saying it’s a gift. This is illegal.
    and finally,
    D. Do you have any idea how little regulation & control any organization has over there? You have a much higher likeliness of receiving something laced with formaldehyde or other chemicals, not to mention their lack of quality control. It’s always a gamble for quality & safety with their items.
    and worst of all
    E. You are contributing to sweatshops. If you don’t know how bad they are already (you might live under a rock) you should just youtube the subject. Conditions you wouldn’t even want your worst enemy to live in.

I may love the anime wigs I’ve bought for really cheap, but those were reasonable quality wigs, and it took many tries to find them. Every single one came from China. I kept hoping and kept hoping I’d get one that wasn’t. I didn’t…..

It’s one thing to buy something made in China when there’s a company here that sells it after doing quality control checks because they’re legally forced to, but it’s another when you get items directly shipped from the place they are made in china, and they don’t go through any safety, security or quality checks….. 😦

  13. Wigsis.com is another one. I was to pay 247.00 for lace front human hair wig. They charged my bank account 3 separate times for a total of 253.00. So they said they would send me an extra wig stand and wig cap. So I agreed. So a couple days later I got a package with a wig stand on top of the box and when I opened the box there was just a wig cap. But t b e invoice said 1 wig. So I contacted themby email of course no phone number listed. And she said she would look into it and that I needed to send her pictures of what was in the box so I did. Then I get an email saying those were just accessories the wig has not been completed and that she urged them to shiPhone it that day. Well about an hour later I got a text message from DHL shipping giving me a tracking number and that they have picked it up for shipping well 2 days later I got the package and when I opened it i was terribly disappointed it lookseems like and feels like a synthetic wig it just tangles and fallen out. And I did not get extra wig stand either. Do not buy from wigsis.com

  14. I am having a horrible time receiving my order from LightInTheBox. Don’t waste your time or money!!! They show beautiful wigs of all types on their web site. I am a first-time wig wearer and was very excited to find such a great human-hair selection. They don’t have a way to contact them except email, then only if they contact you first. They also imply that you can track your order (like reputable companies do), but that’s definitely not true. I even paid for express shipping – needless to say, it’s been several weeks and NO SHIPMENT AT ALL. Once they said the shipment had gotten to the US (That’s how I learned it was a foreign company.), then they gave me tracking information for the US and said to check with the US Postal Service. Of course the USPS wasn’t ever familiar with the type of tracking number they gave. I am sooooo disappointed. At this point, I’m about to pursue getting my money back through PayPal or my bank.

Good luck to you all. 😡

  18. Hello, this just makes me very sad for all of you. I recently lost ALL of my hair in a little less than a month. It was traumatizing enough to have that happen, I am not even too sure what caused it. I can not believe that these sick companies are cruel enough to rip people off when they are often feeling their most vulnerable. I was going to order several wigs online and was considering ordering from Wigs Canada. I am glad that I did a little homework after reading some complaints about Wigsbuy and a few others and then I found this site. I sure am glad that I found this site, but am saddened that there is even a need for it. I went on the Canada Wig site to investigate, and there was a phone number. I tried to call, but I got a generic voicemail – nothing about the company – a little strange. I am thinking bogus. I could be wrong though. I would now like to go through Vogue Wigs. It seems legit. Does anyone know anything on this site?

  19. For what its worth …. here are some guidelines to AVOID BEING RIPPED OFF.

    1. The website should list an address and telephone number. Call them just to make sure they are who they say they are and to confirm their location.
    2. Read the blurb carefully and you will see inconsistencies, i.e. I noted a wig that was listed as 24″ to match the picture but the description indicated it was “collar-bone” length. Clearly a cut and paste job?
    3. Never pay by Western Union. You wont get your money back. Use PayPal if you are going to go ahead and buy from this website
    Good luck.

  21. Hi they have scammed me as well they sent me the wrong color wig as well as lace color told me I could return it but only use USPS not any of the other companies. They also told me but they already refunded my money to PayPal when they had I went ahead and filed a dispute with PayPal so in the emails sent back for along with a fake email they sent pretending to be PayPal regarding the case which PayPal found to be fake. PayPal has now told me that they can only refund my money if proof that they had received the return apparently USPS cannot be tracked in China this is why the seller told me to send it that way. Now I’m having to go through my bank to file a dispute I’m so angry I spent $355 they have their product back and my money. I’m super angry right now please don’t order from this company. I’m going to make a YouTube video to one people because the good reviews about this company on YouTube are fake.

    • Katherine,
This is terrible. Which site did you order from? Sorry you had to endure this frustration. It is a shame that not much can be done about the Chinese scams sites from the US. This is why we are trying to spread the word. Unfortunately… they have lots of marketing dollars and get right up there at the top of the list. Perfect position for them to rip people off. Thank you for taking the time to alert others.
We hope you find a trusted site to work with and stick with them! see the list we have here for safe sites to work with.

  22. Yes – I have. I had the same experience with Wigsmart as a lot of other people here. Luckily I kept copies of the email trail, as well as records of what I ordered and photos of what I actually received. PayPal were excellent, and refunded my money in full within a couple of weeks.

  23. @bollingerbabe, thanks for the reply and it’s very good to see your update. I’ve raised the issue with PayPal Resolution Centre because Wigsmart Customer Services are not giving me an address to return the item and are repeatedly trying to persuade me to keep the awful quality wig!

  24. I have recently received a wig from Wig-smart, and had the same experience as others.sent a ginger wig, when I had ordered a blonde one, in a completely different style to what I had expected. I have asked them three times for a refund and an address to send back the wig and got nowhere. ImpId by Pay Pal and hope I can get a refund through them or my Bank.
I thought they seemed boa fine as they were a UK company.

      • Like everyone else, I have been emailing Wigsmart Customer Services trying to get a UK return address but was offered partial refunds of £5 which then went up to £20 after my constant nagging. I had raised a dispute with PayPal and then then Escalated it. Wigsmart offered a “Partial Refund” within a few hours of the Escalation and the amount was much more than what they had offered via email. I read through a few other blogs about PayPal and concluded that there might be a chance that PayPal will ask me to send the item to China (which means I will lose £15 on postage and then be unable to track the items once they get into China and could face customs i.e. essentially open up the chance of losing the items and all of my money if Wigsmart claim that the items haven’t been delivered!). After Mimi Barlow’s experience with PayPal, I didn’t want to let things prolong for too much more. Long story short, I lost the £7 of postage and £20 on top of postage (Totally lost £27)… I felt that it’s worth cutting my losses at this point (i.e. didn’t take the risk of spending £15 on sending to China) and consider I’ve saved on that and prolonging this! Essentially got scammed out of £27 and feeling incredibly stupid about it, hope this post helps someone else save the money and grief!

  27. I ordered a remy human hair wig from VIVWIGS.CO.UK for £77 and paid via PayPal. 5 days later the wigs arrived in a less than desirable package. After opening the package, I found that the wig was very poorly made, coarse plastiky hair. This synthetic material was so poor if you pulled the strand it would cut you. It was that bad. I’ve been emailing back and forth to get a refund. I was eventually given a Chinese return address even though the wig was posted from within the UK from an address in Middlesex.
I have contacted PayPal to assist with claiming a refund.
VIVWIGS.CO.UK is not a legit company. It’s not based in the UK and it trades under a few other names as well. Just Google it and you’ll get more bad reviews about them and other trading names.

  30. So where CAN we go online for wigs? Who CAN we trust? NO RETURNS is posted for most, so a mistake is costly. Even those named in sites rating “Top 10, 15” etc., name companies that have many complaints. Local places are so limited, scarce, and costly – it leaves nowhere to go worth going to for wigs at a FAIR price.

  34. I bought two wigs from Wigsis in January 22, 2018 and it took about a month to get them. I had the same experience with them as everyone else has. Wrong color and cheap wigs that didn’t look at all like the picture. They claimed they were custom made and very expensive for them to make and offered deal after deal to keep them claiming I got what I ordered. Why would I want to keep something that belongs in the trash and isn’t worth the postage to return them. Emails back and forth for weeks. I reported it right away to our credit card company since we hadn’t paid the bill yet and they are doing an ongoing investigation. I decided to report them to the Better Business Bureau, econsumer.gov, and the Federal Trade Commission. Does anyone know where else I should report these scammers? I paid $318.00 for two black wigs that look horrible. I ordered color #44 which is usually used by reputable companies as 50% grey and 50% dark brown. I pointed it out to them and they insist it is the right color that I ordered. They have finally given me a supposed address for return but I got them to admit in a previous email that if I return it, it will be expensive and may get lost. Sure it will get “lost” that way they have an even better excuse not to refund. They are on the Scam Alert list on the Internet along with about 20 other Chinese scammers. Before ordering another wig, I would check the Scam Alert for reviews by other customers.

  35. I purchased two “human hair” wigs from uwig.com back in January, one arrived last week and is absolutely shocking, matted hair, threads hanging everywhere, definitely not human hair and is absolutely nothing like what they advertised. I have had an on going battle to try and get a return address, so have opened a dispute with PayPal. I fear the second wig I purchased will be just as bad, when it eventually appears! I spend nearly £300 on these two pieces and I’m absolutely gutted!

  36. This is definitely a scam and believe an attorney can wage a successful class action campaign against this/these entities. The company I was dealing with advertises on social media sites like Facebook and offers too good to be true deals (50% off, human hair, lace front, 360 edges) with “fast and free” shipping for orders over $39.99. I ordered 3 wigs on 03.26.18 for roughly $140 and started to follow up one week later when the website still reflected my order had not yet been fulfilled. I have sent at least 12 emails since that time to multiple addresses (support@perfehair.com; salesandserves@gmail.comhildegarde65gage@gmail.com; etc.) to no avail. Not a single response received. I have done some research and found the following company names to be associated:

    AC Grab
    Lucky Life
    Cifun
    Advictio
    Focus Life
    Easy Life
    Perfe Hair
    Vercord

    All reporting business address of:
Shenzhen Nanshan District City Xili street high six North Road Lv Chuang Yun Gu Building 308-310

And reflecting VERY similar verbiage on their “Contact Us” page. I have contacted Facebook to report the fraudulent company and it’s scam techniques and have not received a response from them yet as it has only been two days.

I am sure it is ILLEGAL to take an unsuspecting customer’s money and not provide a way for them to request a refund when the product is not received. I think this is a great site and wish I saw this prior to losing out on $140 but is anything being done with this collection of information? If so, I’d love to be contacted. I am absolutely outraged and may secure an attorney of my own for mere principal – way too many people are being hurt and deceived by these people who are making millions by ripping others off.
